Wet cargo can liquefy, cake, heat or go mouldy – and moisture disputes are among the most expensive claims in dry bulk. We now take representative samples during loading and discharge, measure moisture on site with our own meter, carry out can tests and coordinate independent laboratory analysis. Learn more →
Selected assignments
Cargo claims
Cargo shift – Kiel. For a charterer's P&I club we attended a ro-ro vessel after paper cargo had shifted on several cassettes during a Baltic voyage. We documented the securing arrangements against the Cargo Securing Manual and identified the cause.
Insect infestation – Bremerhaven. For a leading P&I club we investigated the nature and extent of an insect infestation on board a vessel sailing from West Africa to Bremerhaven.
Project & steel cargo
Gantry crane – Rotterdam. We supervised the discharge of a gantry crane with a top section weighing up to 386 t.
Steel for the Great Lakes – Bremen. Storage, pre-loading and loading surveys for regular shipments of steel bars from Bremen to ports on the Great Lakes in the USA – an ongoing series.
Offshore survey (MWS)
We carried out a suitability survey on board a research vessel to be employed in the Nord Stream pipeline project.
